January 9th, 2015, Yorktown, Virginia – Cybernetics, a leading innovator in the data storage industry, today announced that they have packed even more hardware-based data security into their iSAN storage lineup through the the use of Self Encrypting Hard Drives (SED) to provide Data at Rest security.
Loss or theft of drives in a Cybernetics device will not expose data to any unauthorized parties. Self Encrypting Hard Drives use internal circuitry to automatically encrypt data as it is being written to disk media, and automatically decrypts data as it is retrieved. Data on an SED is always encrypted. Password protection is added to the hardware generated encryption key when security is enabled. The SED powers up in a locked state and requires the proper key, unique to the storage sysytem, in order to be accessed. Cybernetics' family of iSAN® storage devices are flexible data solutions for businesses with growing disk storage and data protection needs. In addition to flexible configuration options to tailor the system to meet specific needs, Cybernetics iSAN® systems are dynamically expandable and upgradable to meet the challenges of future demands. Cybernetics' high performance architecture has been proven to achieve higher speeds than any comparably-equipped product.
